Tax Manager

Zurich North America is hiring an Tax Manager to join our team! We are open to hiring talent in our Schaumburg office location.

As Tax Manager you will support Under guidance, leads certain aspects compliance, planning, audits, and research to ensure consistency with applicable tax standards, statutory requirements, and internal policies.

Job Accountabilities:

Key Accountabilities:

• Reviews income tax returns, including complex filings, supporting workpapers, estimated tax payments, and other tax compliance requirements.
• Supports tax audits and responses to tax notices.
• Performs technical research on complex tax issues, including analysis of planning opportunities and interpretation of new legislation.
• Monitors legislative developments and assesses business impact.
• Analyzes existing processes and recommends improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
• Performs and reviews SOX controls in accordance with Group internal guidelines.
• Participates in local and group tax projects, evaluates impacts on reporting units, and supports local implementation efforts.

Sales and Use Tax Responsibility:

• Leads the Sales and Use Tax function including compliance, filings, and payments.
• Coordinates responses to sales and use tax audits and notices.
• Monitors state and local sales and use tax legislative changes.
• Partners with Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders to provide guidance on sales and use tax matters, including transaction reviews and process considerations

HR Tax Support:

• Supports HR-related tax matters including payroll and employment taxes.
• Coordinates with HR and Payroll on tax compliance and inquiries.
• Assists with analysis of tax impacts related to compensation programs, employee benefits, and organizational changes, as requested.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 6+ years of experience in Corporate Tax
  OR
• High School diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience in Corporate Tax
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or Master’s Degree in Tax
• Experience in medium to large corporate tax departments or public accounting
• Insurance industry and statutory accounting experience
• Experience with CorpTax and/or SAP
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Experience coordinating multi functional tax projects
